With the concept album THE FLOOD allround artist Anis sends the audience to an exotic island and a dreamlike journey through rock and pop, blues, tango, reggae and many other styles. 30 songs and 72 minutes make a spectacular double album, crammed with catchy tunes and artful grooves.
The sound of the album is characterized by Lorenzo Colocci's flute that is accompanied by and standing in a dialogue with Anis' acoustic, mostly picked guitar. Percussions instead of a drum kit confirm the unplugged atmosphere. The bass is the only electric instrument; Andreas Schermer fills the overall sound with it. A special highlight is Miriam Isa who sings the female lead voice, Coco. Her electrifying congenial voice stands out, not only in the solo parts. Her counterpart Joe is sung by Anis. The two singers also impersonate the other characters of the piece, like the legendary John Henry. The CD was mixed and mastered by Thorsten Glatte in the Zentralstudio Mainz, with a feeling for the right sound: gentle, but powerful, so that the songwriting comes into its own.
In an interview with the blog "Das Neue Rheingold" Anis explains how THE FLOOD came into being and that it is the first part of a trilogy. Part 2 will be realized with an electric guitar and a cello, part 3 with chamber music instruments and voices. The CD is out here on Anis Online and at TIMEZONE Records.

Nov. 25, 2012: The first premiere of THE FLOOD took place in the town-hall of Mainz on November 25 on the occasion of the Mainz Bookfair. Anis played the whole piece solo without break over two mikes which transported the music into all the halls. It was well-received, although it was only background music. After the show, several people came up and asked about the music. Anis enjoyed it, his fingertips less (two blisters on the right hand from all the picking :-) Photo: Boujemaa Mouatasim
